California State Waste Discharge Requirements
Compliance Summary
The Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD) is required to comply with the State Water Resources Control Board Order No. 2006-0003, Statewide General Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) for Sanitary Sewer Systems. The purpose of the Order is to require agencies to prepare a plan and schedule for measures to be implemented to reduce Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs), as well as measures to effectively clean-up and report SSOs.
In an effort to comply with the essence of this Order, the District will continue to:
- Manage the systems it operates in a way that reduces SSOs;
- Fund, manage, operate, and maintain all parts of the sewage collection system for which they are responsible;
- Construct and maintain the collection system using trained staff (and/or contractors); and
- Comply with this Order. Failures to fully comply could bring about State Water Resources Control Board action, regardless of whether or not an SSO has occurred.
