When hydraulic (pressurized water) and vacuum methods are not sufficient to do the job, sometimes rodding and balling is used to clean our main line sewer pipes and lower laterals.
How does rodding and balling clean pipes?
Rodding uses a device that has blades that rotate, breaking up grease deposits, cutting roots, and loosening debris. Balling uses a threaded rubber cleaning ball that spins and scrubs the inside of the pipe, removing deposits of settled inorganic material and grease build-up.
