These artificial wetlands were created to determine if wetlands can help remove trace metals and improve the water quality of treated effluent.
Nicolaus Dairy
The historic Nicolaus Dairy has been restored to its 1940s zenith as a working dairy, hosting educational opportunities and field trips for Project AWE.
Rawge’s Grove
This 20-acre forest, planted in 1992 by staff and volunteers, honors retiree Roger Jones and his stewardship career. Jones spent 34 years restoring and protecting the Bufferlands’ wildlife habitat and sharing the gifts of our natural environment with the public.
Trail of Trees
In 1994, a Small Business Administration urban forestry grant funded the planting of 6,500 native trees and shrubs in the Bufferlands along Franklin Boulevard and Sims Road for the benefit of wildlife and local residents.
